Anything that floats*

One of the biggest highlights of the Kommetjie Festival, Anything That Floats is back — and promises all the fun, chaos, and creativity we love!

Gather your family, friends, or work crew and build a float from scratch (check the rules below for prohibited items). Your mission? Keep it afloat long enough to complete a lap around the Kom and make it safely back to shore — without ending up in the drink.

Event Details:

Location: The Kom
Date: 22 November 2025
Take-off time: 15h30 (all floats must be ready to launch by 15h00)
Cost: R250 per private team | R500 per commercial team
Entries capped at 30 teams

 Prizes:

• Most Creative Float – R5,000
• First Over the Finish Line – R3,000

To keep things fair, safe, and fun for everyone, please take note of the following guidelines:

What’s not allowed:

• No lilos, paddle skis, surfboards, SUPs, canoes, boogie boards, or any form of pre-made boat
• No outboard engines
• No polystyrene

Float requirements:

• Your float must be built from scratch
• No pushing or pulling the float once launched
• Floats must be at the launch site by 15:00 sharp (or assembled at The Kom)
• All floats must be removed from The Kom at the end of the race
